A Cambridge paedophile, Jason White, who persisted in attempting to groom females despite having been arrested and released on bail for prior offences has been incarcerated.

In September, the mother of the initial victim reported Jason White, 33, to the police upon discovering that he had been communicating with her daughter online.

Jason White initially asserted that he was 15 years old and solicited an indecent photograph from the girl, but subsequently confessed his actual age.

Jason White persisted in complimenting her, requested another photograph, and proposed the possibility of becoming partners.

Jason White subsequently transmitted an improper photograph, resulting in the cessation of their conversation.

Jason White was apprehended and subsequently released on bail on 16 September.

Nonetheless, he persisted in his criminal behaviour, and on December 11, an online child advocacy organisation, which had established a decoy, reported him to the authorities.

The decoy feigned being a 14-year-old girl, while Jason White, utilising a pseudonym on a Facebook profile, again asserted he was a 15-year-old male.

Shortly after the chat commenced, Jason White disclosed his age of 33, expressed a desire for a relationship, and enquired about a meeting in Cambridge or Brighton.

Jason White transmitted an additional improper image of himself and was apprehended on 17 December.

The online child activist group told officers Jason White had engaged in another sexual conversation with a decoy posing as a 13-year-old girl and also sent another inappropriate picture of himself on December 15.

On Friday (31 January), at Cambridge Crown Court, Jason White, of Eagle Street, Cambridge, was jailed for 23 months, having pleaded guilty to inciting a girl 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity – no penetration – and two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Jason White was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register, given a restraining order against the victim and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, all for 10 years.

DC Rosie McKenzie said: “The fact Jason White continued to offend on bail shows he is a danger to children so it’s good news he’s now behind bars.

“This case is a good example that people aren’t always who they claim to be online.

“Child sexual abuse can be devastating for the victims and their families, and we will do everything in our power to put abusers in front of the courts.”
