The Dundee attempted Rapist Child Killer, Jay Dixon, who attempted to drown a one-month-old infant boy in a bowl of water has been sentenced to JUST six years and three months in prison.

Jay Dixon, 23, confessed to many assaults on the boy, including propelling him so high that his head struck the ceiling.

Jay Dixon acknowledged two counts of domestic violence involving two women.

He will be subjected to monitoring for four years subsequent to his release from prison.

Judge Jane Farquharson additionally instituted non-harassment orders prohibiting Jay Dixon from contacting each of the women for a duration of 10 years and indefinitely, respectively.

The judge stated, “Your failure to inflict serious injury or permanent damage is solely a consequence of your fortunate circumstances, not your intention.

“Your persistent inability to justify your conduct against a vulnerable youngster underscores the risks you provide if reintegrated into the community without intervention.

A court was informed that the infant’s mother had dozed off after placing the baby in his Moses basket, while Jay Dixon was watching television in the same room of a residence in Dundee.

She awoke to the sound of the baby “screaming,” with Jay Dixon holding him at arm’s length.

The infant’s visage and the upper portion of his onesie were drenched.

His face and clothing were covered in talc.

Jay Dixon stated, “I submerged his head in the bowl of water and attempted to drown him, but I restrained myself.”

Upon the mother’s declaration of her intent to depart with the infant, Jay Dixon commenced striking doors and walls, threatening to kill both her and the baby should she proceed.

Prosecutor Brian Bell informed the High Court in Stirling: “He subsequently apologised to her for his actions, yet never elucidated the rationale.”

The court was informed that in many other alarming situations, Jay Dixon attempted to silence the infant’s cries by applying forceful pressure on the child’s chest while the baby was lying on a bed, so obstructing the child’s ability to vocalise distress.

On a separate occasion, when the child was weeping and Jay Dixon was unable to soothe him, he rose and lifted the infant, encircling his neck with his hands.

The court was informed that Jay Dixon impeded the infant’s respiration, shook him, and subsequently hurled him into a bed while shouting.

The infant was placed in protective custody when he was only one month old when a family nurse discovered a “fist-sized bruise” on his right temple, obscured by a woollen hat.

He was sent to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where a paediatrician discovered “significant bruises” on his forehead, cheek, scalp, chest wall, elbow, and behind his right shoulder.

Jay Dixon stated that he had positioned the infant in a laundry basket on a table while the mother was asleep, and the baby subsequently fell out into the floor.

A court previously heard that a nurse observed significant bruising on the kid, prompting an investigation.

The court was informed that Jay Dixon stated to the child’s mother, “I attempted to drown him, but I restrained myself.”

Jay Dixon often administered CPR-like compressions to the infant’s chest with such intensity that he was rebounding on the mattress.

Jay Dixon, in a subsequent attack, grasped the newborn by the neck and commenced shaking him out of frustration with his cries.

Experts indicated that such assaults could have led to “serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.”

Jay Dixon, hailing from Dundee, also confessed to perpetrating extensive domestic abuse against two women.

Regarding his initial domestic abuse victim, Judge Farquharson characterised Jay Dixon as “immature, jealous, and controlling.” [IN SCOTLAND TRYING TO KILL A BABY IS IMMATURE…]

She informed Jay Dixon that the same pattern of violent behaviour was “reiterated in chillingly familiar detail” throughout his subsequent intimate connection.

The judge stated that he had demonstrated a “distinct pattern” of coercive control.

She remarked, “I express concern regarding the victim-blaming narrative and misogynistic perspectives you conveyed to the social worker, which require your attention.”

Jay Dixon additionally confessed to a pattern of domestic abuse inflicted upon a woman, then 18, at many sites in Dundee in 2021.

While on bail for that offence, he conducted an additional year-long campaign of abuse against another woman, the mother of the infant.

He was apprehended on March 16, 2023, following an intoxicated altercation at a Travelodge in Perth, during which he assaulted her.

The hotel staff arrived to investigate the situation, and the woman, who was six weeks pregnant at the time, escaped the room, only to be struck in the face by Jay Dixon while seated in the lobby area.

The High Court was informed that subsequently, he appeared on petition before Perth Sheriff Court, where he was first prohibited from any communication with the woman.

At three subsequent bail hearings, sheriffs modified his bail conditions: first, to permit attendance at medical scans for the unborn child; subsequently, two months later, to allow participation in the impending birth; and finally, in October 2023, a special condition prohibiting entry into the woman’s residence was rescinded. He continued under ordinary bail conditions.
