A registered Northampton Paedophile sex offender, John Carver, who profited thousands of pounds by selling indecent photos of minors and subsequently attempted to blackmail his clients, has been cautioned that he may face an extended prison sentence.

John Carver, 37, faces 17 charges, including extortion by threats of locating individuals and notifying law enforcement.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court was informed that he allegedly distributed pornographic photos to internet users of the Telegram app, including those in Norfolk, between September 2024 and January 2025.

Josephine Jones, representing the prosecution, stated that he had exchanged devices to obscure his actions.

John Carver, a resident of Northampton, did not enter a plea to seven charges of blackmail and eight charges of sharing 5,272 indecent photographs and films of children, many of which are classified as category A – the most severe.

He is additionally accused of holding category A photos and failing to adhere to sex offender notification obligations by not informing the police of his location.

John Carver was detained in custody pending a hearing at Norwich Crown Court on May 2.
