John Corby, a paedophile, has been incarcerated for crimes done over 30 years ago, attributed to the courage of his victims.

John Corby perpetrated sexual offences against three teenage victims in the Newcastle region.

Following a disclosure by one of his victims in November 2021, the Safeguarding Department of Northumbria Police initiated a comprehensive investigation.

In January 2022, John Corby was interviewed and subsequently charged with two counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, and one case of gross indecency.

He refuted all allegations.

After an eight-week trial at Newcastle Crown Court in September, Corby was convicted on all charges by a jury.

John Corby, 66, of Hallow Drive, Throckley, Newcastle, was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the same court on Monday, November 18.

He was additionally subjected to a sexual harm prevention order and will be permanently listed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Leading the investigation, Detective Constable David Ostle, of Northumbria Police, said: “John Corby is a predator who took advantage of young vulnerable victims.

“His victims have shown immeasurable bravery and I would like to thank them for coming forward and showing such strength and courage in helping us to bring a dangerous offender to justice.”

Det Con Ostle added: “Protecting our communities and ensuring the most serious offenders like Corby are prosecuted are our top priorities as a Force.

“This result shows that regardless of the length of time that has passed, it’s never too late to seek justice.

“I would urge anyone who has been a victim, or wants to share information about an offender, to get in touch.

“We will listen to you, and we will support you.”
