A courageous young girl has written to a court to explain how much the sexual assault by John Graley Fraddon Paedophile she endured affected her life; she now finds great difficulty attending school. In a victim impact statement, the 13-year-old said how the attack on her while she slept left her fearful, mistrusting, and afraid to go to school.

John Graley, 45, from My Lords Road, Fraddon, appeared at Truro Crown Court today (Friday, August 2, 2024) for sentencing, having pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual touching of a girl under the age of 13 during an incident at an address in Cornwall last year.

On that day, John Graley sexually abused the girl before stopping himself (not sure what that means), the court was informed. The event scared the girl so much that it took three weeks before she felt the confidence to come out and disclose her abuser. John Graley’s victim wrote in a poignant letter to the court that she had been an extroverted and friendly girl but was now a lonely and terrified child.

John Graley’s Paedophile defence barrister said he came forward, handed himself into the police and made a full admission of his crimes. He also entered a guilty plea at the first chance when he showed up before magistrates last month.

John Graley had a large record of past offences; she informed the court, but none of this kind. She claimed he understood his action was terrible and greatly regretted it; he raised his hand to indicate this. She said: “He’s deeply regretful, but he can’t undo as much as he would want of what he did. He agrees he must pay the cost.

His Honour Judge Simon Carr stated the pre-sentence report he had read on John Graley revealed a “very disturbing ingrained sexual interest in children”, which, until this occurrence, he had gratified through access to photos of child sex abuse online. Sentencing the paedophile to three years in jail,

Judge Carr remarked, “Your victim left school. She feels unable to go hence the consequences of your transgression against her will be felt for an extended period.

John Graley will stay on the sex offender register for a lifetime and has also been the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
