A South Normanton Paedophile, Jonathan Clark, has been incarcerated after confessing to hiding a camera within a clock and charging station to surveil an individual and capture footage of them without their consent.

Jonathan Clark, 59, was apprehended in 2022 following a tip regarding the installation of a concealed camera in a private area utilised by the victim.

Jonathan Clark’s gadgets were examined, revealing photographs and footage of the victim recorded by the concealed camera, along with a recording of him installing the device.

Several obscene photographs of youngsters were discovered during the search.

Jonathan Clark, residing on Weavers Way in South Normanton, admitted guilt to charges of voyeurism, the installation of equipment with the aim to engage in voyeurism, and the creation and possession of obscene photographs of minors.

He received a two-year prison sentence during a hearing at Derby Crown Court on 20 March.

The 59-year-old was also subjected to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Detective Constable Ruth Robinson, officer in the case, said:

“Jonathan Clarke is a manipulative offender whose deception hid his sinister motives, which centred around his own gratification.

“A prison sentence will not undo the invasion of privacy that the victim was subjected to, but hopefully it will offer some closure.

“We know that voyeurism can be a gateway offence that leads to further serious sexual offences, which is why we take any reports of it extremely seriously and would encourage anyone affected to report it to us.”
