A Cheshire Constabulary police officer rapist, Jordan Masterson, has been incarcerated for engaging in sexual relations with a lady after attending to a 999 call at her residence.
Jordan Masterson, 28, was an active constable with Cheshire Constabulary when he responded to a call at the woman’s residence in December 2021.
Two police constables had earlier attended the woman’s residence following her original allegation of a disturbance; however, they were compelled to depart due to another emergency situation.
Subsequent to the woman’s second call to 999, Masterson arrived at her residence and shortly after his arrival, deactivated his body-worn camera.
Jordan Masterson thereafter engaged in sexual intercourse with the woman while her children slept upstairs, before departing her residence shortly thereafter.
Subsequently, after responding to more police calls, Jordan Masterson returned to the woman’s residence and once more deactivated his body-worn camera. The woman stated that he requested her not to disclose what had transpired before.
Following Jordan Masterson’s second departure, the woman opted to contact the police and recounted the events that transpired.
Later that morning, Jordan Masterson, who has now resigned from the police service, submitted a written report and cautioned colleagues of the woman, recommending they respond in pairs during any future trips to her residence.
Jordan Masterson then acknowledged that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with the woman but refuted the claim that he instructed her not to disclose the incident to anybody.
The prosecution successfully demonstrated that Jordan Masterson intentionally engaged in wrongdoing by having sexual relations with a vulnerable member of the public while on duty.
On 1 February at Chester Crown Court, he was found guilty of one count of misconduct in public office and subsequently sentenced to three and a half years’ jail on 5 April at the same court.
A restraining order prohibiting Jordan Masterson from contacting the woman was also issued.
The prosecution followed an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “There was no excuse or justification for the actions of Masterson – who at the time was a serving police officer responding to a 999 call.
“He exploited the woman’s vulnerability in her own home and took advantage of someone who needed his support.
“His shameful behaviour amounted to a serious abuse of the trust which the public rightly have in a police officer not to act in this manner.
“He knew what he had done was wrong, and then attempted to cast doubt on the woman’s account by urging his colleagues to attend her home with at least two officers in future.
“I hope this conviction reassures the public and the victim in this case that nobody is above the law and that all offenders will be held accountable.”
