The Salford Animal Abuser, Kay Hoppley, who neglected to take her very underweight puppy to a veterinarian has been prohibited from owning any pets for seven years.
Kay Hoppley, 43, confessed to inflicting unnecessary suffering on Staffordshire bull terrier Lipsy.
A court was informed that her body condition was assessed as one on a scale of nine.
Lipsy experienced discomfort while walking and suffered from serious medical ailments impacting her eyes and ears, according to the RSPCA.
A veterinary study indicated that Lipsy ‘suffered unnecessarily’ and that veterinary intervention ‘should have been pursued far sooner in this situation’.
Kay Hoppley admitted guilt, according to the RSPCA, for inflicting needless suffering to Lipsy by neglecting to provide adequate veterinary care, so violating the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
RSPCA Inspector Jessica Pierce stated that she initially visited the residence to examine allegations concerning a ‘thin dog’. She stated that Lipsy was ‘severely underweight,’ with her ‘ribs, spine, and hip bones discernible.’
Kay Hoppley, previously residing on Brierley Road East in Swinton, Salford, but currently without a permanent address, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.
She received a 12-week jail sentence, suspended for 18 months, was mandated to pay a £154 victim fee, and has to fulfil 25 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement Days.
Kay Hoppley consented to transfer Lipsy to the RSPCA, and she was then transported to the Greater Manchester Animal Hospital for assessment and care.
Now in good health, she is scheduled for rehoming with a family that will care for her, unlike Kay Hoppley.
