A child molester, Kevin Challen Worthing Paedophile, previously convicted for having indecent images of children has been jailed after breaching a court order by messaging a 12-year-old child.

Following his discovery of offensive photographs of minors on his computer in March 2021, Kevin Challen, 55, from Worthing, messaged the youngster while serving a ten-month suspended sentence.

Under a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), Kevin Challen got a suspended sentence and was registered as a sex offender for ten years under specified conditions.

Kevin Challen broke SHPO rules and used falsehoods and dishonesty while serving his suspended sentence, befriending naive family friends and beginning to message a 12-year-old youngster.

The youngster was courageous enough to tell their parents about the degree of illegal contact Challen had with them, which led Sussex Police officials to arrest Kevin Challen once more.

Following an inquiry, Kevin Challen was accused of three charges, including breaching his SHPO and also of not following guidelines for notifying the sex offenders register.

Kevin Challen entered a guilty plea to the offences and showed up in Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday, March 15 2023, where he was sentenced to 31 months, and his SHPO was changed to run indefinitely.

A crime investigator, Dawn Hosken, said: “I want to thank the witnesses for their cooperation in this case and the victim for their bravery in approaching us. Now imprisoned is convicted sex offender Kevin Challen.
