Kevin Convery paedophile child sex offender - Edinburgh

Kevin Convery, a paedophile from Edinburgh, was apprehended in a paedophile hunter operation after transmitting inappropriate sexual texts to someone he thought was a young schoolgirl.

Kevin Convery was approached by members of the online hunting club ASA Scotland after he engaged with one of their decoys on the dating platform Badoo.

Kevin Convery, 50, thought he was conversing with a 13-year-old named Mia, and once the discussion transitioned to WhatsApp, he transmitted repugnant sexual remarks to the profile. The ex-serviceman of the Argyll and Sutherland regiment also transmitted partially nude photographs of himself to the child’s web profile.

Kevin Convery travelled from his former home in Clackmannan to Edinburgh, where he was confronted outside the Scottish Parliament building by the hunter group, who live-streamed the meeting to thousands of online followers.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told Kevin Convery, now of the capital’s Shandwick Place, had been contacting various adult women on the Badoo dating site when he began chatting to “Mia’.

He told the girl she was “a sexy young lassie”, and he wanted to see images of her naked. Kevin Convery then demanded that the child send him videos, and he sent messages to her describing how she should carry out his instructions.

Kevin Convery, who was jailed in 1995 for having sex with a child, claimed he believed Mia was over 18 years old when he first made contact.

He said he had been feeling “loneliness and isolation” at the time of the offending, and he had been “stupid” to carry on messaging after he was told she was underage.

Kevin Convery appeared at the city court for sentencing on Tuesday after previously pleading guilty to sending sexual comments and images of himself to who he believed was a child between May 26 and June 21 this year.

Sheriff Adrian Fraser sentenced Convery to be placed under the supervision of the social work department, and his name was to be added to the sex offenders register for 18 months.

UPDATE – 18.10.24

The authorities continue to let Kevin Convery rape and torture children. Luckily, he crashed his paedo van. Next time the children won’t be so lucky.

A paedophile ex-squaddie has been jailed after crashing a van with no effective brakes and a window blacked out with plastic into an oncoming car, seriously injuring its woman driver.

Kevin Convery’s Vauxhall Combo had a smashed passenger window temporarily repaired with a black plastic sheet – meaning he could not see out to the side or use his nearside wing mirror – as well as no interior mirror and brakes that did not work.

Falkirk Sheriff Court heard that the incident occurred at about 4.30 pm on a Monday afternoon at pedestrian lights in Clackmannan Road, Alloa.
