A convicted sex offender, required to remain on the police sex offenders register for life, has received a 12-month probation term for failing to complete his yearly registration.
On Friday, 43-year-old Kevin Thomas Leggett pleaded guilty at Newtownards Magistrates Court to violating the conditions of the sex offenders register on January 23 of this year.
The details of the offence include that Kevin Thomas Leggett “failed, without reasonable justification, to adhere to the provisions of the Act by not submitting the annual re-notification of information specified in section 83(5) of the Act, which includes your name, residential address, and date of birth.”
Consequently, he is required to submit an annual notification to the police, providing his name, permanent address, and date of birth.
In January, a routine inspection revealed that Kevin Thomas Leggett, residing on Scrabo Road, Newtownards, in the Ards Peninsula, had failed to complete his yearly confirmation.
