A British Transport Police (BTP) officer, PC Kieran Ball, who covertly recorded a woman disrobing has been dismissed for conduct deemed “abhorrent” by his superiors.

PC Kieran Ball, 30, formerly stationed in Coventry, was convicted of voyeurism in criminal court on 6 April.

The court was informed that Kieran Ball had positioned an iPad to capture footage of a woman showering at a private residence.

A disciplinary hearing at BTP headquarters on Tuesday determined that his actions constituted gross misconduct.

The criminal trial of Kieran Ball revealed that the woman observed the device positioned on a windowsill and discovered it had been recording for about six minutes.

Kieran Ball was additionally convicted of clandestine recording and is scheduled for sentencing on 24 May.

Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi of BTP stated: “My decision to terminate Kieran Kieran Ball’s employment immediately underscores the gravity with which we regard such conduct and the consequences for anyone who jeopardises our endeavours to restore public trust in policing.”

She stated that there was “no position in the force for individuals like him.”

She stated, “PC Kieran Ball was entrusted with enforcing the law and safeguarding women and girls, yet he made this reprehensible attempt to violate a woman’s privacy in a space where she had every right to feel secure.”

The force stated that the misconduct hearing occurred at the “earliest opportunity” after the completion of the criminal procedures.
