A paedophile from Pembrokeshire, Lawrence Lambert, was apprehended with numerous obscene photographs of minors on his mobile device.

Prosecutor Thomas Scapens said Swansea Crown Court that law enforcement visited Lawrence Lambert’s residence on August 17, 2022, subsequent to an inquiry conducted by Dyfed-Powys Police’s online investigative unit.

The authorities confiscated Lawrence Lambert’s iPhone 13 Pro Max, and initial enquiries at the location revealed a URL saved in the notes program that directed to a website containing indecent photographs of minors.

Lawrence Lambert was apprehended and responded with no reply to nearly all enquiries during his initial interview, stating simply that the pornography he viewed was “18 plus.”

Subsequent enquiries revealed that the account utilised to access the website was established with an email address and phone number associated with Lawrence Lambert, and was created from the IP address connected to the defendant’s residence.

Mr. Scapens stated that Lawrence Lambert possessed 250 Category A indecent photos, comprising 207 movies and 43 still photographs, 115 Category B images, which included 80 videos, and 134 Category C images.

The defendant responded with no reply to all enquiries during a second interrogation and originally refuted three counts of producing indecent pictures of minors.

A trial was set to commence on February 19; however, on the morning of the trial, he altered his pleas and confessed to each of the three charges.

“The defendant possesses no prior criminal record,” stated Jon Tarrant in mitigation.

He stated that the revelation of the offence had “a considerable impact” on the defendant, adding that “he is now somewhat isolated.”

He conceded that “it’s a challenging period of his own creation.”

Mr. Tarrant stated that the postponement of the case’s court proceedings was due to Lawrence Lambert’s failure to acknowledge or admit his wrongdoing; nonetheless, he noted that Lambert possesses the potential for rehabilitation with the assistance of the probation service.

“He recognises that he has surpassed the custodial threshold and acknowledges that there is work to be accomplished,” Mr. Tarrant stated.

“You have taken considerable time to acknowledge your culpability,” stated Judge Catherine Richards in sentencing 26-year-old Lawrence Lambert.

“These are not merely indecent images of children; they are depictions of children undergoing sexual abuse.”

“Your actions endorsed that abhorrent trade.”

Lawrence Lambert, from Llandissilio, received a 13-month sentence, suspended for 18 months. He is required to fulfil 150 hours of unpaid labour and complete 25 days of rehabilitative activities.

The defendant is required to register as a sex offender for a duration of 10 years and is subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order.
