Leon Davies from Oakley has been incarcerated for noncompliance with sexual offender notification obligations.
Leon Davies, residing on Sycamore Tree Road, acknowledged two charges of shoplifting and two violations of a Criminal Behaviour Order.
The 27-year-old attended Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Monday, June 9.
The court was informed that Leon Davies is included on the sexual offenders registry due to an indecent exposure crime in 2024 and is obligated to comply with notification procedures.
He acknowledged violating those stipulations by failing to register at a police station within three days of his release from incarceration.
The court was informed that Davies was freed from incarceration on Thursday, May 29. On the subsequent day, and the day thereafter, Leon Davies pilfered alcohol from the One Stop shop located on Oakley Lane, Oakley.
In doing so, he violated a Criminal Behaviour Order granted in 2024 following prior convictions for shoplifting on two occasions.
The injunction mandates that Leon Davies must place products in a basket or trolley and demonstrate his ability to pay, as well as vacate the business if
Davies was jailed for a total of 40 weeks.
Inspector Charlie Ilderton said: “Davies was in court for a number of offences and he now has to face the consequences of his actions.
“Firstly, it is an offence for sex offenders to not comply with their notification requirements, and we take the management of that extremely seriously.
“We also know the impact that Leon Davies’ shoplifting has had on businesses and shop workers in the district.
“We will continue to look at every power available to us to make sure those who show such disregard for the law are brought back to court.”
