Malcolm Doling must be dead by now surely? Or has he got one last child rape left in him. Where is the Eastbourne Paedophile Malcolm Doling?

A former deputy mayor of Tunbridge Wells has been sentenced to four years in prison for sexually assaulting two youngsters.

Malcolm Doling, a former mayor of Southborough and a paedophile, exploited his societal position to earn the trust of acquaintances prior to molesting their daughters.

In a recent exclusive interview with the Courier, one victim stated: “He was the kind of person who would consistently hold a door open for a lady.” He possessed much charisma. I felt as though no one would accept my account.

Doling came at Lewes Crown Court last week with a suitcase containing his possessions and shown no emotion as he was escorted away.

Shortly prior, a crowded public gallery including Doling’s family and supporters of the victims listened to accounts of how he exploited the two girls, whose families had placed their trust in him.

Judge Guy Anthony stated: “Not satisfied with your misconduct towards one young girl, you seized the opportunity to perpetrate the same actions against a second.”

Prosecutor Michael Warren stated that the four indecent assaults to which Doling confessed occurred in Crawley between 1977 and 1983, and around 1990.

Doling sat with his arms crossed as the court listened to accounts of his friendship with the girls’ families, including vacations together.

Mr. Warren stated that Doling, now 66, sexually assaulted the first victim while she was between the ages of 8 and 11 during her babysitting. The second individual was subjected to maltreatment at her grandmother’s residence and at a beach when she was 11 years old.

Regarding the initial victim, now a mother of two, Mr. Warren stated: “This issue has been a significant aspect of her life for an extended period.” She recalls the creaking stairs and his sneer as he instructed her to ‘make him happy.’

He recounted how she had extracted her eyelashes and eyebrows while grappling with the trauma inflicted upon her. She departed without informing her family, leading them to believe she was experiencing difficulties at school.

Only when she requested a friend to locate Doling, got distressed upon his discovery, and another concerned acquaintance contacted the police, did the grim reality emerge.

The second victim, unfamiliar with the first, audaciously confronted Doling at a family funeral in 2004, inciting a dispute.

Following the sentencing, she informed the Courier that Doling’s societal status had mostly hindered her from disclosing the truth to her family earlier.

In defence of Doling, who had lately resided in Eastbourne, Julian Dale asserted that his client possessed a prior reputation of “good character” and that any incarceration would exacerbate his financial difficulties, given his existing “substantial debts.”

“This case has caused considerable turmoil and distress within the family,” he remarked.

The tension was palpable when the victims and their supporters were compelled to sit beside Doling’s family in the public gallery.

Judge Anthony stated that he had to consider the sentencing guidelines applicable at the time of Doling’s initial two offences and consequently sentenced him to four years of imprisonment.

He was issued a sex offender prevention order for an unlimited duration.
