A Paedophile from Sudbury, Mark Brooks, has received a sentence for charges related to indecent photographs and sexual communication.

Mark Brooks, a 21-year-old resident of Elm Road in Sudbury, was sentenced after pleading guilty to five counts of producing indecent photos of a child and one count of engaging in sexual conversation with a child. He was indicted for the charges in November of the previous year.

On Thursday, 13 February, at Ipswich Crown Court, Mark Brooks received a two-year community order, 200 hours of unpaid labour, six months of GPS monitoring with exclusion from the victim’s village, and a three-year restraining order prohibiting any contact with the victim. He was placed on the sex offenders register for five years and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same duration.

Following the victim’s mother’s report to the police, an investigation commenced, revealing that Mark Brooks had been interacting with the victim, who was under 16, on Snapchat between 24 August 2023 and 27 September 2023.

Investigating officer DC Scott Swallow stated: “The victim was reported missing and subsequently found at Mark Brooks’ residence, which resulted in his arrest. Digital evidence retrieved from his mobile phone revealed sexual communications and numerous indecent images of the child.” He persisted in violating bail restrictions by maintaining contact with the child, and on 10 November 2024, he was found at the child’s residence, where he was subsequently arrested and remanded to prison.
