A West Mercia Police Officer, Sex Offender Mark Slade, has admitted guilt to five charges of sexual assault through physical contact. He attended Maidstone Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, 25 September 2023.

Personal Computer Mark Slade, 48, stationed at West Mercia Police headquarters in Hindlip, Worcestershire, resigned from the force in September 2023. He was suspended in February 2023, within 72 hours of his apprehension by Kent Police.

In January 2023, Mark Slade sexually attacked five individuals in Maidstone by inappropriately touching them without their consent.

Mark Slade is scheduled to be sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on a date that has yet to be determined.

Deputy Chief Constable Alex Murray stated: “This exemplifies an officer unfit for policing.” I am gratified that Mark Slade has entered a guilty plea, so alleviating his victims from the anguish of a trial.

I praise the victims for their bravery in coming forward and express gratitude to our colleagues at Kent Police for pursuing the allegations and achieving a conviction.

“Be assured that we uphold the highest standards in law enforcement, and officers of this nature will be scrutinised and held accountable.” The overwhelming majority of police and staff are exemplary; it is these few individuals that we will pursue without hesitation.
