A REGISTERED Carlisle paedophile sex offender, Matthew Ferguson, violated a court order by uninstalling monitoring software that enables law enforcement to trace online activity on electronic devices.

Matthew Ferguson, 42, received a 45-month prison sentence in 2021 after being apprehended for sending texts to an individual he believed to be a 12-year-old girl.

Matthew Ferguson composed explicit text messages, made graphic propositions, and transmitted a vulgar image of himself. He was indeed engaging in communication with members of a vigilante organisation.

He confessed to accusations of attempting to provoke a kid into sexual action and attempted sexual communication.

Matthew Ferguson, formerly of Workington and currently residing on London Road, Carlisle, was sentenced to imprisonment by a judge who noted that the defendant possessed a low IQ, classified as bordering on a learning disability.

Matthew Ferguson was subjected to the stringent conditions of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) as part of his sentencing and was further mandated to adhere to sex offender notification procedures. These measures were implemented to deter additional online offences and to keep law enforcement apprised of his personal details.

However, Matthew Ferguson was re-sentenced today at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court. He had previously acknowledged three violations of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order and noncompliance with the notification obligations.

Magistrates deferred an eight-month sentence for a duration of two years.

Matthew Ferguson is required to undertake a sexual offending course as mandated by the probation agency, along with supplementary rehabilitation efforts.
