An investigation has been launched after reports of an alleged rape and assault in Preston.

Officers were called to Meadow Street, shortly after midnight, on January 8. They received reports that a woman, in her 30s, had been raped and assaulted.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch but they have also been warned not to approach him.

A police spokesperson said: “Do you know where this man is?

“We want to speak to him as part of an investigation into the rape and assault of a woman in Preston.

“We were called shortly after midnight on Wednesday January 8, to a report that a woman in her 30s had been raped and assaulted on Meadow Street, Preston

“An investigation is being conducted by a dedicated team of Detectives supported by specialist officers. The victim is being supported by specialist officers.

“As part of our enquiries, we are releasing these images of this man captured on CCTV on Meadow Street, Preston and we are asking for your help to try and find out where he is.

“If you have any information about him or where he could be, please don’t approach him but get in touch with us as a matter of urgency.
