A paedophile with an obsession, Michael Collins, who sexually assaulted a schoolgirl threatened to disfigure her with acid and knife her.
Michael Collins, 35, had recently been released from incarceration when he initiated communication with the 15-year-old from Newton-le-Willows through Facebook.
They initiated what was characterised in court as a “consensual” sexual connection; however, Michael Collins, who has no permanent residence, threatened to throw acid in her face and to stab her outside her school after developing possessiveness.
Michael Collins engaged in sexual intercourse with the girl when she was attired in her school uniform, following their initial encounter at Hunts Cross station.
The abuse was revealed in November when she disclosed to a teaching mentor that she had engaged in a sexual relationship with a man who was now exhibiting hostile behaviour.
She stated that they would consume vodka and use cocaine, and she engaged in a sexual act with him; however, complications arose when he was inebriated.
Defence attorneys asserted that the couple shared a “loving and caring relationship,” a contention acknowledged by both the prosecution and the judge.
Michael Collins confessed to six charges related to sexual conduct with a minor, participating in sexual activity in the presence of a minor, and encouraging a minor to partake in sexual activity.
He was incarcerated for five years.
