A man, Michael Dickinson Torquay Paedophile, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison, with a further year on extended license, for the rape of a child and other sexual offences.
Michael Dickinson, 67, of Abbey Road, Torquay, is mandated to register on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and has been issued a 25-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Michael Dickinson pleaded guilty to two counts of enticing a minor to engage in sexual behaviour and was convicted of two counts of rape of a child under 13 during a trial in December. He received his sentence at Exeter Crown Court on Thursday, 13 February.
Detective Constable James Kelly, who spearheaded the investigation, stated: “The sentence issued by the judge today is commendable.”
“The young victim deserves commendation for their courage in reporting this matter and for their continued involvement in the investigation and prosecution until its resolution.” Additionally, for her family who have definitely assisted and supported her throughout this process.
“Devon & Cornwall Police is unequivocal in its stance regarding such reports – we will attentively listen, and your voice will be acknowledged.”
