Milad Fathy Leeds Rapist

A Leeds Rapist sex offender, Milad Fathy, characterised as a ‘woman’s worst nightmare’ committed suicide in prison shortly after beginning a seven-year term, as concluded by the Prisons Ombudsman. Milad Fathy, 33, an Iranian national, was discovered hanged in his cell at HMP Leeds. He was sentenced on January 24, 2023, for sexual assault, robbery, attempted robbery, and possession of a knife.

Leeds Crown Court was informed that Milad Fathy possessed a profound animosity against women, specifically targeting female students in Leeds. He had committed sexual assault against one individual and attempted to rob another, with a judge characterising him as a ‘woman’s worst nightmare.’

Upon apprehension, Milad Fathy, residing on Hyde Park Road, Leeds, was discovered in possession of a kitchen knife.

The court was informed of his numerous offences, including assault and issuing threats.

A report from the Prisons Ombudsman has been released on Milad Fathy’s death, emphasising his background of substance misuse and melancholy.

Milad Fathy was found hanging in his cell on January 29, 2023, few days following his punishment.

The Ombudsman reported that Mr. Fathy was the twelfth inmate to commit suicide at Leeds since January 2020, and the fourth over a seven-week span from December 2022 to January 2023.Following Mr. Fathy’s demise, four further inmates have committed suicide at Leeds. These facts are undeniably troubling. “Since my appointment as Ombudsman in April 2023, I have visited Leeds on two occasions and engaged with the Governor and Prison Group Director to discuss the strategies they are employing to identify and assist prisoners at risk of suicide and self-harm, as well as to provide their staff with the necessary resources to aid them.”
