The Sheffield PAEDOPHILE, Mohammed Hanif Khan, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after confessing to two counts of rape and many additional crimes of rape.

Mohammed Hanif Khan, 57, of Blagden Street, Sheffield, served as an Imam at a mosque on Sunbridge Road, Bradford, throughout the offences in the 1990s.

Mohammed Hanif Khan formed a friendship with the victim, who was a minor at the time, and subjected him to prolonged sexual abuse over several years.

Following Mohammed Hanif Khan’s guilty plea, he was placed in jail.

On June 20, he was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment, with an additional 3 years on extended licence, at Bradford Crown Court.

He was already permanently listed on the sex offenders registry.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Laura Casey Head of Bradford District Safeguarding Team said:

“Mohammed Hanif Khan was in a position of trust when he committed this horrific abuse on a child.

“As an Iman he was looked up to by students and family members within the community.

“He stole his victims’ childhood. I would like to praise the bravery and courage of the victim for coming forward and reporting these crimes to us.

“I hope today provides some comfort in knowing that Mohammed Hanif Khan will be spending a long time behind bars.

“The passage of time does not affect our dedication to ensuring victims are listened to, placed at the very heart of operations and supported by specialist services for as long as they need.

“This sentence serves as a timely reminder that no matter how long ago these offences took place, we will investigate and bring perpetrators to the courts.”
