A 23-year-old paedophile from Mutare has been incarcerated on charges of raping his two-year-old daughter.
The Mutare paedophile whose identity is concealed to safeguard the victim has appeared before a magistrate in Mutare, who subsequently remanded him in detention.
His trial is anticipated to begin on January 3 of the following year.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) reports that the guy exploited his wife’s absence to perpetrate abuse against his daughter.
The court was informed that the infant was unattended in the residence while the mother was retrieving water from the adjacent borehole.
The Mutare defendant, who is the biological father of the complainant, purportedly perpetrated the egregious conduct on December 17, 2024, when the child’s mother was absent retrieving water from a nearby borehole.
The state alleges that the accused entered the residence, approached the sleeping newborn, and removed her nappy prior to committing rape.
The infant’s mother returned from the borehole and found the accused at the door, adjusting his trousers.
The court was informed that she approached the complainant, who was lying down and weeping, and found that her nappy had been taken off.
The mother observed that the baby was haemorrhaging from her vagina and that semen was present beneath her navel.
The mother hurried outside to face the alleged Mutare paedophile, but he had already escaped the area.
He was subsequently apprehended and presented before the court.
