A Rhondda paedophile substitute teacher, Natalie Arroyo, who transmitted explicit images and videos of herself to a 15-year-old male student over Snapchat has been incarcerated.
Natalie Arroyo, 33, exploited the adolescent by transmitting explicit photographs and expressing her desire to engage in sexual relations with him. She informed him of her intention to leave her husband and transmitted a video of herself engaging in a sexual act.
A court was informed that the underage child was in a “vulnerable” condition when Natalie Arroyo initiated contact with him. She commenced transmitting the improper messages while employed as a progress coach and a substitute instructor.
The dialogue between Natalie Arroyo and the kid on Snapchat initially appeared “innocent,” but she then incorporated a sexual dimension and adopted a flirty demeanour, as revealed during a sentence hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday.
She remarked to the victim, “I wager that all the boys are infatuated with me.” I do not hold them accountable – I possess notably large breasts. Natalie Arroyo subsequently transmitted images of her breasts while in a bra and requested the victim to submit an image of his penis, which he complied with.
She subsequently invited the youngster to meet her for sexual intercourse, stating that she would collect him and they could return to her residence. The defendant transmitted images of her lower body in lingerie and stated, “I stimulated myself while contemplating you.”
The victim requested her to cease sending images as he was shopping with his mother and aunt, to which she replied, “It’s so enjoyable to provoke you.” Natalie Arroyo persisted in transmitting sexually explicit texts, informed the victim that he could “do whatever he desired with her,” and claimed she “lacked a gag reflex” and wished to engage in oral sex with him, according to Wales Online.
Prosecutor Andrew Kendall stated that the defendant transmitted images of her exposed breasts. She enquired of the kid whether he possessed any particular preferences and stated her inclination towards being dominated. Natalie Arroyo enquired of the victim on their forthcoming meeting and stated she would “abandon her husband for him.”
The adolescent informed Natalie Arroyo of his disinterest in engaging in sexual activity, however she attempted to persuade him otherwise. She transmitted an image of her genitals to the child and requested his presence, while her husband was at work. He expressed his disinterest, to which the defendant replied by transmitting a video of herself engaging in a sexual act. Several days later, Natalie Arroyo communicated to the boy that it was “preferable to disregard the messages.”
The offences were revealed after the victim reported the abuse to another adult, leading to the defendant’s arrest. She was interviewed and first denied any communication with the youngster; then, after a break, she acknowledged sending the messages but asserted that she believed the boy was 16.
Natalie Arroyo, residing on Shady Road, Gelli, Rhondda, subsequently admitted guilt to two charges of causing or persuading a child to participate in sexual activity and engaging in sexual correspondence with a child. The court was informed of her prior good character.
In a victim personal statement presented to the court by Mr. Kendall, the youngster stated: “I have experienced anxiety and endured a breakdown.” I ceased desiring to socialise with friends and felt disheartened by the circumstance, since I have become identified as the boy to whom this has occurred. Children have approached me enquiring about it, finding it amusing and worthy of laughter. Initially, I believed I was to blame and had no one to confide in. I placed my trust in her… I feel deceived and exploited. I was unaware of how to halt it.
In mitigation, Ruth Smith stated that her client had encountered significant adversity throughout her life, including a troubled childhood, abusive relationships, and bullying during her schooling. As an adult, she experienced miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies, and she suffers from PTSD, anxiety, and despair. She has a young son with her husband, who characterised her actions as a “moment of madness” in regard to the court.
Judge Eugene Egan expressed his dissent over this characterisation. He stated: “You have previously accused the boy, you conducted an unsatisfactory interview with probation, and you fail to comprehend the gravity of your actions.” Your demeanour reflects a sense of self-pity. You were aware of the victim’s vulnerability and you took advantage of it… You employed deceit and cleverness to influence the boy.
Natalie Arroyo received a sentence of three years and four months of incarceration. She was also subjected to sex offender notification obligations and an indefinite restraining order.
