A West Mercia Police officer, Nicholas Peacock, who was suspended and incarcerated due to a sexual contact with a suspect, has been prohibited from re-entering the policing profession.
West Mercia Police stated that a misconduct hearing conducted on Tuesday would have resulted in the dismissal of Nicholas Peacock, 40, a former constable in Market Drayton, had he not previously resigned.
Nicholas Peacock was sentenced to 18 months in prison last December for misconduct at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
The misconduct hearing revealed that during his suspension, Nicholas Peacock neglected to disclose a business interest and engaged in paid employment, failing to adhere to the force’s rules regarding the declaration and approval of business interests.
Nicholas Peacock has been included in the College of Policing Barred List.
Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Jones stated: “Despite his resignation from the force, we have continued to pursue disciplinary proceedings against Nicholas Peacock to prevent him from working in policing again.” His actions were deceitful and shown a blatant absence of integrity, which will not be permitted inside our organisation.
Shrewsbury Crown Court was informed last year that Nicholas Peacock had entered into a relationship with a suspect in an assault case, which he inadequately investigated, wrongly asserted the absence of witnesses, and stated that the victim had not endorsed a prosecution.
