Owen Kew Yeovil Paedophile

A paedophile sex offender, Owen Kew, from Yeovil who spent the night at a residence where a kid resided without notifying the police has been mandated to complete 100 hours of community service.

Owen Kew was under an order with strict terms, including a requirement to inform the police if he resided in a property where a kid was present.

Upon failing to divulge his residence, he was apprehended and presented before the Somerset Magistrates.

Owen Kew, 32, of Milford Road, admitted guilt for not adhering to the sex offender notification obligations by failing to register after a 12-hour stay at a residence where a child resides, within three days of his visit.

Prosecutor Andrew Meadows stated that it constituted a wilful violation of his directive, since the conditions had been elucidated to him. He further noted that the first offence for which the order was issued did not pertain to minors.

The homeowner indicated that she encountered no problems with him during his stay.

She said: “I was surprised about the information provided about him and had no reason to believe he posed a sexual threat.

“I was frustrated that I was not told the truth after offering him a stay at my home.”

Defending himself, Owen Kew told the court that he was aware of the requirement but had made a mistake and would have to face the consequences.

The magistrates sentenced Owen Kew to a 12-month community order during which he must carry out100 hours unpaid work and complete 30 rehabilitation activity days with the Probation Service. Costs of £85 and a £114 victim surcharge were also imposed.
