Owen Lonie, the Ross-Shire Rapist, has been incarcerated for violent and sexual crimes perpetrated in the Ross-Shire region.

Owen Lonie, 25, was convicted of multiple charges, including rape, before the High Court in Inverness on Monday, May 23, 2025. On Monday, 30 June, he received a sentence of seven years in jail at the High Court in Edinburgh, along with an additional five years on licence.

The offences were perpetrated against two women from 2018 to 2022.

Detective Constable Fraser Duncan stated: “Owen Lonie is a violent individual who inflicted severe harm upon his victims.” He will now confront the repercussions of his conduct.

“We recognise how difficult these enquiries can be for victims and would like to thank them in coming forward and assisting in bringing Owen Lonie to justice.

“We remain committed to investigating all reports of sexual crime and domestic abuse and would encourage anyone affected to report it. Every report is taken seriously and will be fully investigated, with support from our specially trained officers and partner agencies.”
