An Ovingham Paedophile, Paul Wallis, who ingratiated himself with a family to gain proximity to a young child has been incarcerated once more.

Paul Wallis was released after serving half of a 30-month sentence for sexually assaulting a boy when he targeted the victims.

Newcastle Crown Court was informed that Paul Wallis is prohibited from contacting minors due to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which was enacted following his conviction for a sexual crime in Sheffield.

Notwithstanding the limitations imposed upon him, Paul Wallis frequently visited a residence where a youngster was often present, and the family remained oblivious to his nefarious history.

Fortunately, Paul Wallis did not make physical contact with or harm the youngster.

But in an impact statement, the child’s mother said she was “deeply concerned and devastated” to find out they had been in the company of a convicted paedophile.

She said Paul Wallis “deliberately befriended” the family to gain access to the child and they have been left traumatised by thoughts of what could have happened.

Paul Wallis initially claimed the family knew he was a sex offender and must have “forgot”.

The 48-year-old, Paul Wallis, of Tyne Gardens, Ovingham, Northumberland, later admitted breach of a sexual harm prevention order.

Mr Recorder Nicholas Lumley KC sentenced him to two years behind bars.

Recorder Lumley told Paul Wallis: “Mercifully, whatever pleasure you may have gained from seeing (the child), you don’t appear to have caused physical harm.”

Rachel Kelly, defending, said Paul Wallis had a difficult background and experienced childhood trauma.
