A former school bus driver in Witney, Carterton Paedophile Peter Gibbs, has been convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl.

Peter Gibbs, 60, was convicted at Oxford Crown Court of three counts of historical child sexual abuse occurring in the early 2000s.

Peter Gibbs, residing on Briary Lane in Carterton, refuted two charges of indecent assault—one occurring on no fewer than three occasions and the other on at least two occasions—as well as one charge of raping a girl under the age of 16.

A jury has convicted him, and he is scheduled for sentencing on Wednesday, March 20.

Nevertheless, following two police interviews, the Crown Prosecution Service determined that there was a lack of consistency between the statements made by the complainant and those provided by the medical specialists.

Peter Gibbs was not charged initially but was subsequently arrested in February 2021 after a school claimed that he, serving as the authority’s bus driver, had been communicating with a 15-year-old pupil.

In May 2022, Peter Gibbs admitted guilt to one count of sexual communication with a minor and one count of producing indecent photos of a minor after six explicit photographs of the adolescent were discovered on his smartphone.

Subsequent to his apprehension, the victim in this case was recontacted by law enforcement, resulting in the reopening of the investigation.

A victim impact statement read out in court heard one victim say: “Peter Gibbs ruined my life.”
