Following his conviction of rape, child abduction, and sexual offences against a minor, a 67-year-old man, Peter Wrigglesworth Cleveland Paedophile, was sentenced today, Friday 19 April, to 23 years in jail.

Following his meeting with a kid on Teesside, Peter Wrigglesworth was detained on November 6, last year.

After Peter Wrigglesworth brought the youngster to his house outside of Cleveland, the elderly sexually assaulted and raped her.

Hartlepool CID detective Louise Sproson said: “The severe sentence reflects the heinous actions committed by this guy.

“Although these incidents have traumatised the victim, her bravery in supporting police on the inquiry guarantees that he cannot endanger anybody else.

“Peter Wrigglesworth poses a risk to children; it’s reassuring to know he will now be locked up for a considerable period.

“The victim and her family have expressed thanks to the Cleveland Police personnel who aided in securing his conviction; they are relieved that he has been given a significant term.

“Hopefully, they can now start the long process of rebuilding their life.”
