A Paedophile from Birmingham, Raymond Tombs, in his 50s has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting two youngsters throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

Raymond Tombs commenced his offences in his 20s, while the boys were both under the age of 14 at the time of the abuse.

The devastating offences were revealed after an individual confided in a family member regarding the events that transpired.

Officers from the Public Protection Unit examined the claims and identified the second individual.

Raymond Tombs, 59, of Longley Crescent, Birmingham, was convicted of six counts of child indecency during a trial last week.

On Friday (7 March) Raymond Tombs was jailed for nine years at Birmingham Crown Court.

Investigator Kuli Mudhar, from our Public Protection Unit, said: “The children who endured this abuse are now adults and have shown immense bravery in coming forward to say what has happened.

“It is due to their courage that this abuser, Raymond Tombs, is now behind bars, sending a clear message that we will always pursue such matters, even when decades have gone by.”

It’s important to note that survivors of sexual abuse are protected by law and have life-long anonymity.
