A Thornhill Paedophile Couple, Richard Chappell and Cherie Scott, and were apprehended while attempting to meet and sexually abuse young children during an undercover police operation.

Richard Chappell, 44, from Thornhill, West Yorkshire, was communicating with investigators under the impression that he was conversing with parents soliciting their children for sexual activities.

He was convicted of attempting to orchestrate a child sex offence and inciting child exploitation, and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

His accomplice, Cherie Scott, 29, was likewise incarcerated for sexual offences.

Richard Chappell and Cherie Scott resided in the Crigglestone district of Wakefield while perpetrating the crimes from 2016 to 2019, according to police.

Richard Chappell communicated with accounts he presumed to be associated with parents of small children, which were, in fact, operated by undercover investigators.

He recounted lewd acts he had committed and expressed his desires for the recipients’ offspring.

Following Richard Chappell’s arrest in April 2020, authorities conducted a search of his residence, confiscating children’s pants and clothing, sexual devices, as well as phones and computer equipment holding thousands of photographs of minors.

Cherie Scott was apprehended while detailing to Richard Chappell via a message how she had perpetrated an act of sexual touching.

The police subsequently recognised the child involved.

In November, Richard Chappell was convicted on 11 counts of attempting to orchestrate a child sex offence and five counts of promoting child exploitation.

Det Ch Supt Carl Galvin, the head of the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit, stated that Richard Chappell was a “depraved individual with sexual perversions involving very young children.”
