A Wolverhampton paedophile sex offender, Richard Haswell, has been jailed for six years after being discovered in possession of more than 50,000 photos of child abuse and violent pornography, some as young as six months.
Following an investigation by West Midlands Police, Richard Haswell of Cornwall Road was apprehended with over 50,000 photos, some of which were of a serious nature, including indecent images of youngsters and extreme pornographic content.
Officers discovered a ‘appalling’ list of crimes committed by the 62-year-old, including photographs of youngsters as young as six months.
The inquiry also revealed that Richard Haswell was interacting with another sex offender in the Philippines, organising live sexual abuse of children for custom-made recordings.
When officers arrived at Richard Haswell’s home in July last year, he acknowledged to having gadgets with indecent images on them.
Despite these admissions, he attempted to convince investigators in an interview that he was being harassed into paying money to the abuser in the Philippines, but could not explain why he did not block them.
Richard Haswell was sentenced to six years in prison and will serve an additional three years on licence.
Richard Haswell also received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
