A 30-year-old Dumfries and Galloway Rapist, Richard Pettigrew, was jailed for 12 years on Tuesday, 1 October 2024, in connection with sexual offences in the Dumfries and Galloway area.
Richard Pettigrew who committed the offences over six months, was also issued an indefinite non-harassment order.
Detective Sergeant Stephanie Brown said: “Richard Pettigrew is a violent individual who showed no remorse for his abusive actions.
“I would like to commend his victim for their strength in coming forward to report these crimes. Their information was essential in helping us build the case against him, and I hope this outcome provides them with some sense of closure.
“If anyone is experiencing or has experienced any violence or sexual abuse, please report it. We have detectives dedicated to investigating such offences. You can be assured that officers and our partner agencies will fully support you.”
