Richard Williams paedophile rapist child sex offender - Hartlepool

Richard Williams, the Hartlepool Paedophile, who committed the heinous crimes of child rape and deception will be sentenced to 28 years in jail.

Richard Williams, who is a predator, was incarcerated at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday. The man from Hartlepool was also given an indefinite restraining order and a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO). Upon his release, he will be subjected to strict terms and surveillance.

In 2018, a third party made a report stating that Richard Williams had committed sexual assault and rape against the victim. An investigation was initiated and the victim was provided with specialised assistance. At the same time, investigators from CAVA (Child Abuse and Vulnerable Adults Investigation Unit) collaborated with other organisations to reconstruct the events that occurred over several years.

Richard Williams, residing on Topcliffe Street in Hartlepool, was formally accused earlier this year. In May, a jury at Teesside Crown Court rendered a verdict of guilt for him on charges of raping a child under the age of 16, committing four instances of rape against a female over the age of 16, engaging in indecent assault against a girl under the age of 16, and committing indecent assault against a woman over the age of 16.

Following the sentencing, acting detective sergeant Claire Baker, who was involved in the case, stated that the victim, despite being an adult, was highly fearful of Richard Williams and initially showed great hesitation in pursuing any legal action against him. However, she wanted to see him brought to justice, so she ultimately joined in our inquiry; I can’t praise her highly enough.

“She has exhibited remarkable fortitude and courage and is currently flourishing; I trust that today’s outstanding outcome will aid her in her ongoing journey towards recovery. I extend my best wishes to her.”

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Murphy King, responsible for safeguarding, stated that Richard Williams consistently and repeatedly lied, persistently denying his activities despite overwhelming evidence against him. He made every effort to divert our investigations. Still, my officers were relentless in their intention to press charges and bring him to court to face the repercussions of his reprehensible acts.

“Richard Williams’ persistent dishonesty also resulted in the victim having to undergo the anxiety of a trial, but she handled it with composure and demonstrated remarkable bravery and resilience throughout.” I want to assure our communities that we will diligently investigate any accusations of abuse, regardless of the time that has passed since the incident occurred.
