Robert Parkin rapist sex offender - Derby

A convicted serial rapist from Derby, Robert Parkin, has been sentenced to a prison term spanning almost thirty years. Robert Parkin refuted allegations of sexually assaulting three distinct women, necessitating the victims to provide testimony and recount their distressing experiences throughout a trial.

The jury deliberated for several days after a three-week trial at Derby Crown Court in Chesterfield. It ultimately delivered guilty verdicts on three counts of rape, as well as charges of stalking and assault.

During the sentencing hearing at Derby Crown Court on Friday, 7 July, one of the ladies read her victim impact statement. She expressed that she had persistent nightmares when she went to sleep, fearing that the perpetrator would be freed from prison and attempt to enter her house or that he was secretly observing her from the bushes.

Adrian Reynolds, the recorder, sentenced Robert Parkin, who resides on Uttoxeter Road, to a prison term of 32 years. According to him, this consisted of 24 years plus an additional eight years due to the level of danger involved. In addition, the judge imposed a lifelong registration as a sex offender and issued a restraining order against the 35-year-old individual.

Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Adam Redfern noted that the detrimental consequences of Robert Parkin’s actions on these three ladies are unmistakably evident. I anticipate that the resolution of the case will provide a sense of finality, enabling them to reconstruct their lives and dispel the prolonged negative impact caused by Robert Parkin’s acts.

“I cannot commend enough the courage of these three women for first reporting these traumatic incidents and then being compelled to relive that same trauma in court.” The individuals have displayed unwavering determination throughout the trial and should take pride in their resilience.

DC Redfern stated that he hopes this case clearly demonstrates the seriousness with which we approach allegations and the thoroughness of our investigations. Violence and sexual violence are unacceptable in our culture, and we are committed to taking all necessary measures to ensure that we hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
