A lewd Bilston Paedophile road sweeper, Robert Stewart, who planned to meet an individual he believed to be a young schoolgirl for sexual purposes has been compelled to relocate following protests from neighbouring people outside his residence.
Robert Stewart, 54, transmitted inappropriate online sexual messages and an obscene image to a ‘teenage child’ decoy after initiating contact with an online profile in September of the previous year.
Robert Stewart subsequently journeyed to Waverley train station in Edinburgh with the intention of engaging in sexual activities with the ’14-year-old’ the following month.
Instead of encountering the youth, the municipal worker was greeted by many members of the paedophile hunting group ASA Scotland, who had used adult decoys to ensnare online predators.
The hunter organisation broadcasted the internet sting live on their Facebook page, garnering over 44,000 views and around 700 comments.
Footage depicts Robert Stewart being interrogated by the hunting group for almost 50 minutes outside the capital station before being escorted away by police officials and subsequently arrested and charged.
The road worker was compelled to vacate his residence in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, following a mob’s protest at his presence and the vandalism of the property.
He admitted guilt to three sexual offences, including the transmission of a sexual image, at his appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month, and he returned to the court for sentencing on Tuesday.
Sheriff Robert Fife stated, “As you are undoubtedly aware, these charges are exceedingly grave.” I have meticulously considered the whole social work report and your individual circumstances.
The custody standard is clearly satisfied; nonetheless, I have opted not to impose a custodial sentence, instead choosing to provide a direct alternative to incarceration.
“Failure to comply with the order I am about to impose will result in a 21-month prison sentence. Do you comprehend that?”
Robert Stewart, currently residing in Bilston, Midlothian, was subjected to a two-year supervision order by the social work department and mandated to do a maximum of 300 hours of community service without remuneration.
He was instructed to participate in sessions with the online sex offenders rehabilitation organisation CISSO and was registered on the sex offenders list for five years. Robert Stewart admitted guilt to transmitting sexual written correspondence, distributing an indecent image, and coordinating a meeting with the child at Waverley train station in Edinburgh, all occurring between September 24 and October 1 of the previous year.
