A Newport Paedophile, Rodney Morgan, has been convicted for a series of child sexual offences, including acts committed against an infant.
Rodney Morgan received a 14-year prison sentence at Swindon Crown Court on Thursday after admitting to committing 15 offences.
The Wiltshire Police officer conducting the investigation described Morgan’s offences as “one of the most appalling cases” she had encountered during her 18-year career.
Rodney Morgan, aged 56, resided in Newport at his arrest in September 2022 but had previously lived in Swindon.
Rodney Morgan came under initial scrutiny when investigators from Wiltshire Police’s child internet exploitation team (CIET) received information indicating that he had posted a child abuse image on the internet.
The complete nature of his criminal behaviour, including the act of recording himself engaging in sexual assault against an infant, was revealed during his interrogation by the police.
According to Det Con Justine Parsons from Wiltshire Police, Rodney Morgan’s crimes were regarded as “truly appalling”.
She expressed that the mistreatment endured by the victim, who is an infant at the hands of Rodney Morgan, is utterly repulsive.
“Morgan recorded himself engaging in abusive acts towards an innocent infant on multiple occasions, solely for his sexual pleasure.”
“I am pleased that he has received a substantial prison term, which ensures that he no longer presents a danger to infants and minors.”
Rodney Morgan admitted his guilt for the crime of child rape, three instances of sexually assaulting a child through penetration, one example of sexual assault, and one instance of attempted child rape.
In addition, he confessed to six charges of producing explicit photographs of minors, including a total of 8,985 photos, as well as one charge of disseminating explicit images, involving a total of 1,219 images.
The defendant also confessed to two charges of possessing child pornography.
