Paedophile Scot Reedy, A former well-known Manchester DJ has avoided jail after being caught AGAIN with indecent images of children breaching a court order. Scot Reedy, 36, had previously been before the courts for similar offences when he was sentenced to a suspended prison term in February 2021.
In addition to the term, Scot Reedy was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which mandates that he must notify his offender manager of any internet-enabled devices he possesses.
During an unexpected visit by the Greater Manchester Police, twelve devices were discovered, one of which had computer-generated indecent photos of young children.
Scot Reedy confessed to violating the restriction and was given a community order by Manchester Crown Court today (August 14).
Brendan O’Leary, the prosecutor, informed the court that on September 5, 2020, Scot Reedy appeared before Tameside Magistrates on the charges of possessing indecent photos of children. On February 15, 2021, Scot Reedy received a penalty for those acts, consisting of a 16-month jail term suspended for two years. Additionally, Scot Reedy was mandated to participate in the Horizon programme, a rehabilitation program designed for male sex offenders who are prone to committing further offences.
In addition, Scot Reedy was assigned a Supervised Home Placement Order (SHPO) that will be in effect until February 2031. This order includes several stipulations, one requiring him to promptly notify his offender management of any internet-capable gadgets he possesses.
“On March 23 of the previous year, the offender manager from GMP’s Sex Offender Manager Unit, accompanied by another officer, visited the defendant’s home address without prior notice to evaluate the defendant’s conduct in the community,” stated the prosecutor.
“The defendant’s phone contained prohibited photos.” Upon confiscating the phone, the defendant asserted, “I can provide evidence to demonstrate that I did not intentionally download them.”
Upon inspection, law enforcement officials discovered 330 illicit photos of minors that were inaccessible, as well as evidence of online searches for obscene images on a single day in December 2021.
The searches conducted encompassed terms such as ‘paedo bait’, ‘minor NSFW’, ‘incest’, and ‘IRL shota’. According to the court, ‘shota’ is a phrase that refers to sexual activity between a youngster and an adult.
Scot Reedy was apprehended, and 12 additional devices were seized, each capable of connecting to the internet. In addition, they discovered a sex doll with youthful features in his possession, but he could not be prosecuted for it.
According to reports, Scot Reedy had been convicted three times before for a total of 16 crimes, which included the creation of inappropriate photos involving children.
Joshua Bowker stated that the 12 devices discovered did not include any evidence of illegal activity as a way to lessen the severity of the situation. Regarding the retrieved photographs, he stated that they were computer-generated 3D graphics and so did not depict real children.
“According to him, images of actual children cause significantly more harm than computer-generated ones.”
According to him, his client displayed a negligent and careless attitude towards the court order, and his adherence to it was a certain level of forgetfulness.
Mr Bowker stated that Scot Reedy had been diagnosed with autism, and he is still trying to accept this diagnosis. Reedy is prepared to collaborate with probation to assist. “He feels ashamed about his actions,” he stated.
In her sentencing, Judge Elizabeth Nicholls noted that Reedy had already spent ten months in custody awaiting sentencing. She also emphasised that the public would be better protected if Reedy were dealt with in the community.
“It will be difficult to find someone willing to take a risk on me today, with the expectation that you will undergo rehabilitation or successfully manage your current addiction,” she stated.
“Based on your previous cooperation with the course, the probation service is content with the idea of sentencing you in the community.”
Reedy, residing on Meadowgate Road in Salford, received a sentence of an 18-month community order, 25 days of rehabilitative activity requirements, and 130 hours of unpaid work. He previously admitted guilt for possessing a forbidden image of a child, failing to comply with the provisions of the Sex Offences Act, and violating a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
He is obligated to comply with the conditions of the Sex Offenders Register and Sexual Harm Prevention order for ten years.
