An opportunistic Camborne Paedophile Scott Glover who perpetrated a sustained campaign of rape and sexual abuse on a young girl has been informed that he may never be released.

Scott Glover, 43, from the Camborne region, has been sentenced to almost 20 years in prison after being convicted of 37 offences involving a single victim, a girl under the age of 16.

The indictment against Scott Glover initially included 10 counts of sexual assault, 12 counts of persuading a child to participate in sexual conduct, one case of inducing a minor to engage in sexual activity, six counts of rape, and nine instances of sexual activity with a child.

Scott Glover, employed at a garage in Helston, refuted all allegations, asserting their complete falsity.

Scott Glover’s trial commenced at Truro Crown Court last week, and a jury delivered its verdicts on Tuesday (December 13) following six and a half hours of deliberation.

The jury found him guilty on 37 of the 38 charges. He was acquitted of one of the rape counts.

During the case’s opening last week, Sean Brunton, QC, stated that the victim had, at times, contemplated suicide due to the secret she was harbouring.

The girl ultimately disclosed her situation to her friend and then approached her school’s student relations officer before the claims were referred to the authorities.

Mr. Brunton stated that she appeared bewildered, disoriented, and characterised her experience as dreamlike.

During sentence, the court was informed that the abuse inflicted against the victim was prolonged and systematic.

Scott Glover compelled the youngster to don “provocative lingerie” and utilise a vibrator for his sexual enjoyment, in addition to exposing her to adult pornography.

This progressed to sexual assault and rape. During the assaults, Scott Glover occasionally, but not consistently, utilised a condom, while the victim commenced using the contraceptive pill at the age of 13.

In mitigation, Scott Glover’s attorney, Heather Hope, stated that his actions will also have significant repercussions for his family.

“I have very little to articulate,” she informed the judge. Mr. Scott Glover has consistently demonstrated diligence and has fulfilled his responsibilities as a family man, providing for his family.

This case involves numerous victims. He was the sole breadwinner in his family, as his wife is unemployed, and there will be insufficient funds to cover the mortgage or car payments. The family’s money reserve has been depleted. His family is financially vulnerable.

This does not diminish the impact on the victim, and Mr. Scott Glover is cognisant of the contents of the victim impact statements. Mr. Glover possesses commendable attributes; nonetheless, this does not diminish the gravity of the events that have transpired.

Before sentencing, Mrs. Hope implored Judge Simon Carr to postpone Scott Glover’s sentencing until the new year, allowing him to enjoy “one last Christmas” with his family. The request was rejected.

Judge Carr stated, “He has exhibited no semblance of remorse.”

Judge Carr sentenced Scott Glover to 22 years in jail, with an additional year on licence, stating: You have been convicted by a jury of prolonged and systematic torture. The victim characterised you as an opportunistic paedophile, which accurately reflects your nature.

As she aged, she felt increasingly empowered to express herself. Her interview was notable not only for its detail but also for its duration; she spoke for about two hours to articulate the impact of your actions.

Her life has been irrevocably altered; she will endure the consequences of your actions for the remainder of her existence. You have exhibited no semblance of sorrow for your actions, which were solely for your own enjoyment.

Scott Glover exhibited no emotion during the sentencing proceedings.

He is required to register as a sex offender for life and will not qualify for parole until he has completed a minimum of two-thirds of his sentence.

However, Judge Carr said that he finds it challenging to foresee a day when it will be safe for your release.

A spokesperson for the NSPCC in the South West of England stated: Glover audaciously sought and groomed a young girl for several years to satisfy his own depraved sexual cravings.

This girl, a survivor of sexual assault, has bravely disclosed her experiences, thereby preventing her offender from harming more children.

She has demonstrated remarkable courage in her endeavour, and it is essential that she get the requisite support moving forward.
