Sean Murphy, a convicted sex offender from Shropshire, has been sentenced to imprisonment after being found guilty of several sexual crimes.

Sean Murphy, aged 52, was found guilty of rape, sexual assault by penetration, and assault by beating, with the offences occurring in Townhill, Swansea, in May.

He has been sentenced today to seven and a half years of incarceration.

Sean Murphy has been issued a restraining order for a duration of ten years. He will be permanently included on the sex offenders registry.

Detective Inspector Sharon Gill-Lewis said:

“Sean Murphy’s offending was despicable, and he has rightly been sentenced to a lengthy jail term.

“I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victim in coming forward, without whom a very dangerous man would still be on the streets.”
