Shane Johnson Havant Paedophile

Shane Johnson, a paedophile from Havant, has been cautioned on his “significant lack of maturity” after failing to inform the police of his change of address.

Shane Johnson emerged from custody at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, February 21, after admitting guilt to three charges.

A 19-year-old resident of Thornyton Road in Havant confessed to not informing the police of his address as mandated by the sex offenders registration.

Shane Johnson neglected to notify officers of his residence in Irvine from December 10 to December 23 of the previous year, and from December 31 to January 13 of the current year.

He also acknowledged violating a sexual harm prevention order issued by East Hampshire Magistrates Court on April 21, 2023, for a duration of five years.

The order forbade him from residing in the same household as minors under 16 without prior written consent from the local social services.

Shane Johnson acknowledged residing in the same residence as a minor under 16 from December 21 of the previous year to January 4 of the current year at an address in Irvine.

The court was informed that Shane Johnson was classified as a “high-risk offender,” having been convicted in England in April 2023.

A procurator fiscal depute stated: “He began residing in Irvine on December 10 of the previous year after initiating a new relationship.”

“He failed to attend at a police station to register his address. He returned home to England over Christmas and came back for the new year.

“He was sharing a bedroom with a woman and a child and none of the adults in the house were fully aware of his offending or restrictions.

“He downplayed his last conviction. He admitted it was a sexual offence but claimed the child was older than she actually was.

“He continued to live at the address and only notified police on January 13 as per his requirements.

“The family had concerns about his previous convictions and contacted police to ask that they be disclosed.

“Police carried out a risk assessment at the home and found Shane Johnson to be in breach, so he was cautioned and charged.”

Johnson’s solicitor Scott Agnew admitted that Sheriff Colin Bisset would be “concerned” by the narration and his previous convictions.

He added: “When initially embarking on this relationship, his social workers told him that he must let her know about his conviction and he did.

“He was unemployed at the time of his remand and wanted to move away from community difficulties down south.

“He was subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order and has completed a one-year community payback order.

“He is genuinely sorry for his behaviour but he thinks that he does not pose any risk of offending.

“His time in prison for the last five weeks has been a huge wake-up call for him.”

Sentencing, Sheriff Bissett said: “You are 19 and suffering from a considerable lack of maturity.

“The seriousness of these offences shows I am justified in sending you to custody, but I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt.”

Shane Johnson was handed a supervision order for 12 months and ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work within six months.
