A HMP High Down Paedophile, Shane Medhurst, has expressed dissatisfaction from incarceration, claiming that prison guards have ‘misplaced’ his teddy bear.

Shane Medhurst was sentenced to 25 years in June after being convicted of 14 counts of child sexual abuse.

The allegations included two counts of sexually abusing a minor under the age of 13.

Shane Medhurst, 58, was incarcerated at Reading Crown Court and is presently serving his term in the 1,100-capacity HMP High Down prison in Surrey.

The facility contains two designated wings for sex offenders, housing approximately 400 convicts convicted of such crimes.

In the most recent edition of the prisoner newspaper Inside Time, Shane Medhurst expressed his enthusiasm for arts and crafts, noting that he had begun creating his own teddy bears.

One, specifically named Mr. Bear—a vibrant yellow bear adorned in a blue and white striped ensemble and a hat—was his ‘favourite’ and required three weeks to construct.

He stated that other teddy bears he had created were dispatched to family and friends, and that he had lent Mr. Bear to the jail library; but, three weeks later, it had disappeared.

Shane Medhurst declared it a disgrace that his bear had been purloined.

The teddy bear was characterised by a black pen in its pocket, a copy of The Shawshank Redemption in one paw, and a clock in the other.

Shane Medhurst’s bear possessed a bed adorned with a blue cup and dish on it, a miniature edition of Inside Time resting on the pillow, and a plaque inscribed with ‘Reading helps your time fly.’

The incarcerated individual said he had gifted the bear to a ‘delighted’ library staff member seven weeks earlier; however, despite assurances of its exhibition, Shane Medhurst saw that it remained undisplayed weeks later.

He stated: ‘I located the staff member to whom I had given the model and enquired if there was an issue, only to be informed that Mr. Bear had been pilfered from the storeroom around one week after I had handed him.’

My inquiry is how a large yellow and blue bear, measuring 9′ x 6′ x 4′, can disappear from a purportedly safe prison.

‘Did he escape as in Shawshank by crawling into the sewer pipe?’

Shane Medhurst expressed his discontent that the jail guards were ‘unaware’ of the purported theft.

The paedophile was convicted last year at Reading Crown Court of numerous offences involving minors under the age of 13.

He faced five accusations of sexual conduct with a minor, three charges of persuading a minor to engage in sexual activity, two charges of compelling a child under 13 to participate in penetrative sexual behaviour, and two charges of sexual assault against a child under 13.

Shane Medhurst was convicted of one count of inducing a kid under 13 to participate in sexual activity and one count of assaulting a child under 13 through penetration.

HMP High Down in Surrey refrained from providing a statement.
