Sol Barrett rapist sex offender - Crawley

An assailant, Sol Barrett Crawley Rapist, who raped a teenage girl following a prior assault has been sentenced to prison. Sol Barrett forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse with a girl who had already experienced an assault within the confines of his residence.

The anonymous victim stated that she regained consciousness at Barrett’s residence the following morning, completely unaware of his identity.

On June 17, 2022, she suffered injuries from a distinct assault that was severe enough for her to seek medical treatment at a hospital.

Nevertheless, after locating her, Sol Barrett, a 24-year-old resident of Halley Close in Crawley, brought her to his residence, where he perpetrated the act of rape.

After six months, the mother of a different girl, whose identity cannot be disclosed because of legal restrictions, expressed worries that Sol Barrett was manipulating her daughter on the social messaging platform Snapchat.

Sol Barrett had provided false information about his age in the communications they exchanged on the network, but the victim had disclosed her age to him.

He appeared in Lewes Crown Court on August 7 and admitted guilt. As a result, he has been sentenced to seven years and two months in prison for rape, as well as six months for three instances of engaging in penetrative sexual conduct with a child.

The sentences are concurrent and will be in effect for a combined duration of 14 years.

Sol Barrett will be permanently classified as a sex offender and has been subjected to a 15-year sexual harm prevention order.

Following the case’s conclusion, Detective Sergeant Ellen Jones, who was in charge of the investigation, commended the victims for their remarkable bravery in coming forward and reporting the incident. They were assisted officers who had received specialised training.

“Sol Barrett is a predatory individual who specifically targeted adolescent girls. However, due to the resilience of the victims and our comprehensive investigation, he was left with no alternative but to plead guilty in light of the overwhelming evidence against him.”

“This case exemplifies our unwavering commitment to securing justice for victims and ensuring the incarceration of a hazardous criminal.”
