Police have stated that a photographer, Sritharan Sayanthan, the London paedophile, who sexually assaulted a lady at his studio in central London may have also targeted other individuals.
Sritharan Sayanthan, aged 42, received a prison term of 11 years on Friday following his conviction for two charges of rape and one count of attempted rape at Hendon Crown Court.
The individual, a female in her thirties, visited Sritharan Sayanthan’s photography studio located on Brompton Road in May 2022 and made a payment for a photoshoot.
According to Scotland Yard, she encountered him once more on July 8, 2022, for a beverage, under the impression that it was a component of a networking procedure following his internet contact.
According to the authorities, they saw each other in a tavern on Warren Street, where Sritharan Sayanthan urged her to consume beer, resulting in her becoming intoxicated rapidly.
The Metropolitan Police Department stated that the suspect escorted the victim to his art studio. Here, she lost consciousness on the studio floor. While in a state of partial wakefulness, she was cognisant of Sritharan Sayanthan engaging in sexual assault against her. She was incapacitated and unable to communicate vocally or move her body.
The complainant, a Chinese citizen, reported the incident to the police on July 31, 2022.
According to authorities, her reason for not going sooner was her lack of familiarity with the investigative procedures regarding rape in the UK.
Footage from the CCTV revealed her displaying a conspicuous lack of stability.
Scotland Yard reported that they collected statements from studio staff and conducted additional research, which revealed many other photography firms owned by the suspect.
Detective Constable Sophie Baker stated that the police have reason to suspect that there may be further individuals who Sayanthan has victimised. They urge anyone wishing to share their experiences with the police to come forward.
She stated: “Every piece of information, no matter how insignificant, will be given careful attention, and you will receive both a listening ear and assistance.”
DC Baker also commended the victim, characterising her as “exceptional throughout the entire process”.
She proceeded to state: “She experienced intense anxiety regarding the task of providing testimony; however, aided by an interpreter, she recounted the events to the court with great precision and thoroughness.”
“The task of recounting the incident in court can be intimidating for victims, but she performed exceptionally well. I am immensely proud of her courage and deeply grateful for her decision to come forward.”
