The Bucknall Paedophile, Stephen Bradbury, a pensioner convicted of possessing hundreds of child abuse images, including one depicting the rape of an infant girl, has been sentenced to imprisonment. The 75-year-old sex offender was apprehended during a police visit to his residence in Bucknall in January of the previous year.
Officers observed him attempting to hide a device when they peered through his window. He confessed to the officer that there were inappropriate photographs on his iPad.
The analysis revealed the presence of hundreds of images categorised as A, B, and C. An explicit pornographic image was shown, along with one depicting an 18-month-old infant in significant discomfort during a sexual assault.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court was informed of his prior convictions, which encompass indecent assault, gross indecency with a minor, indecent attack on a girl under 14, and possession of indecent photographs of children. Stephen Bradbury has been sentenced to 20 months in prison.
Prosecutor Mark Brookes stated that police examined the iPad, which had 126 still photographs and 75 films classified as category A – the most severe; 35 still images and eight films classified as category B; and 34 still images and six films classified as category C.
Stephen Bradbury, previously residing at Fellbrook Lane, Bucknall, but currently without a fixed address, pleaded guilty to three charges of producing indecent images of minors, possessing a forbidden image of a minor, and possessing extreme pornography.
Paul Cliff, in mitigation, stated that the matter did not pertain to any further distribution of pictures. He stated that the quantity of photos was comparatively limited in relation to other like occurrences.
He stated that Stephen Bradbury endures chronic emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, diabetes, and arthritis. Mr. Cliff stated that Bradbury confessed to his offences to the police and entered a plea of guilty.
Judge Sally Hancox stated: “You were enquired whether there was anything you had failed to disclose.” You replied, ‘It contains child pornography.’ Am I not returning to prison?
You acknowledge that you possess a persistent attraction to children. The children were alarmingly youthful. A toddler of 18 months is being subjected to rape. She is evidently in profound sorrow.
Judge Hancox stated that Stephen Bradbury will serve half of his sentence before being eligible for parole consideration; nonetheless, it is probable that he will stay incarcerated for an extended period.
She imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) on him for a duration of 10 years, during which he will also be listed on the sex offenders’ register.
District of Columbia Darren Bithell, from the sex offender management unit, stated: “We welcome the sentence rendered to sex offender Stephen Bradbury.” He constitutes a threat to children and the general population.
We shall consistently investigate and strive to prosecute individuals who perpetrate sexual offences. Protecting victims is of utmost importance to us.
