Stephen Sterry, an Imingham paedophile who exploited kids in Staffordshire over thirty years ago has finally been held accountable.
Stephen Sterry, 63, of Collier Road in Imingham, East Lincolnshire, has been found guilty of 11 charges of indecent assault against a girl, occurring in the 1980s and 1990s in Tamworth.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police stated: “An investigation into Stephen Sterry commenced in 2019 after one of the survivors courageously reported the incident to us.”
“We worked tirelessly to capture all of the evidence possible and to support the survivors during this time, eventually securing the charges against him and taking him to court.”
Stephen Sterry was finally sentenced for his historic crimes this week at Stafford Crown Court.
He had previously been found guilty and was handed a 12-year jail term at the court on Thursday (June 19).
As part of his sentencing, he was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a restraining order against the survivors.
Sergeant Joanne Kirkland, from the force’s public protection unit, said: “Through the sheer bravery of the survivors in this case, we’ve been able to put another dangerous sex offender behind bars.
“I hope this shows that we are committed to delivering outcomes for victims of sexual offences and we’re here to support you.
“No matter how long ago or recent the offences may have been, we want to hear from you and we want to take action against those responsible.”
Anyone who is a survivor and feels ready to talk to police, can call 101 or use Live Chat on the force’s website.
Staffordshire Police confirmed there was no custody image of Stephen Sterry on their records. [LOL OH THAT IS OK THEN]
