A Bispham paedophile Thomas Gerrity was sentenced to 20 years in jail after sexually assaulting two youngsters. On Thursday, July 4, Thomas Gerrity, 69, was sentenced to 20 years in prison with an additional four years on extended licence at Preston Crown Court following a trial.

Thomas Gerrity, of Sandhurst Avenue in Bispham, was convicted of three charges of assault by penetration, six counts of indecent assault, and one act of sexual assault.

Thomas Gerrity’s two victims were both under the age of ten when they were assaulted.

Det Insp Andrew Crook of Lancashire Constabulary said: “First and foremost, I’d like to commend his two victims for their bravery and perseverance throughout this process. They should be quite proud of themselves for their bravery.

“Thomas Gerrity’s activities were nothing short of reprehensible, and I and my team applaud the term imposed on him.

“I hope this demonstrates to other victims of sexual offences that we will listen to you, investigate, and do everything we can to bring you justice. If you or someone you know has been the victim of a sexual offence, please contact us.”
