Locked up is a predator, Tiyumtamba Harruna Nottingham Paedophile, who photographed defenceless teenage schoolgirls using his phone from under their skirts.
Detectives hailed the bravery of victims who came forward and trusted them to look into following 32-year-old Tiyumtamba Harruna had been targeted.
Before snapping intrusive upskirting pictures, Harruna purposefully sought out and followed the teenage girls he aimed at.
He denied taking the pictures for his sexual enjoyment and said police received a rush from getting away with his wrongdoing after his detention.
Between March 2022 and March 2024, Tiyumtamba Harruna focused on six girls from Nottingham locations: Bestwood, Eastwood, and Top Valley.
Age 13 at the time, one of his victims was going home from Eastwood on March 2, 2022, when Tiyumtamba Harruna followed her, approached her from behind, placed his mobile phone up her skirt and tried to snap a picture. He turned around and bolted.
Tiyumtamba Harruna once more targeted the same girl on May 4, 2022, as she made her way home from Eastwood. She tried to snap another upskirting picture, but he ran off before she could.
At the time, other girls he tracked and targeted also fell between the ages of 15 and 16.
Tiyumtamba Harruna was also spotted trying to snap pictures under another unidentified female who seemed uninformed of what was happening.
Tiyumtamba Harruna was accused of the offences after a protracted inquiry into the series, which included looking at CCTV and cell phone recordings.
He entered a guilty plea to two counts of trying to take an obscene picture of a child, one count of attempting to operate equipment beneath the clothes of another without consent, and four counts of operating equipment beneath the clothing of another without permission.
Initially from Campbell Close, Broxtowe Estate, Tiyumtamba Harruna was imprisoned for two-and-a-half years before appearing for Thursday’s (25 July) sentencing at Nottingham Crown Court.
He also received a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and instructions to sign the Sex Offers’ Register for life.
Sentencing Tiyumtamba Harruna, Judge Michael Auty KC said: “You effectively stalked young girls around the streets of Nottingham.
“You have no idea of how fragile any of these young girls may be. You invaded their personal space and their dignity was trashed for your sexual gratification. The adverse effects your behaviour had on them are incalculable.”
Detective Constable Gemma Patterson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Harruna violated these girls’ privacy and dignity in a most degrading manner as they went about their daily lives.
“I’d like to praise the strength and courage of the victims who came forward, spoke to us about what happened, and trusted us to investigate.
“I hope it gives people confidence that Nottinghamshire Police will listen to victims, take them seriously and treat them with respect, and investigate reports thoroughly.
